Tom Morey
Jazz drummer, mathematician, engineer, and inventor, Tom was an early team rider for Velzy-Jacobs and Dewey Weber surfboards. In 1964, Tom developed the first commercial interchangeable fin system. He produced the world’s first pro surfing contest in 1965 -- the Tom Morey Invitational Nose Riding Championship. In 1971, Tom invented the Boogie Board. He continues to develop “alternative wave-riding vehicles” -- a quest that unites his interests in science, philosophy, and waves.
